Amazon is my go-to for travel products, especially when you need some last minute items. I’m a big advocate of traveling light (and on a budget), so I’ve curated this list with affordable products I actually use — without adding extra bulk.
1. Packing cubes
Not sure how to fit everything into a carry-on? These packing cubes will save the day. Not only do they keep your stuff clean and organized, they’ll help you make the most of your limited suitcase space.
2. Shoe storage bag
Skip the checked baggage fee — I recently discovered these shoe organizers that fit right on top of your bag to save space in your carry-on.
3. Lightweight towel
Planning to be by the water on your trip? A traditional towel takes up so much space in your bag. This lightweight, quick-drying towel won’t add extra bulk and dries super fast so you can put it back in your bag when you’re on the go.
4. Mini steamer
Ok, so this one isn’t exactly a travel necessity, but this steamer is probably in my top 3 favorite purchases I’ve made in the last year. I don’t bring this on every trip, but it’s been a lifesaver when I’m bringing shirts, dresses, or rompers that wrinkle easily. It’s not the smallest item, but I’ve never had a problem fitting it into my carry-on or backpack. If you don’t want to be a wrinkled mess (maybe you’re traveling to a wedding), I cannot recommend this product enough.
5. Wrinkle release spray
A smaller alternative to the steamer. Seriously if you haven’t used this spray, it’s basically magic. These small spray bottles don’t work quite as well if you have larger clothing items (maxi dress, jumpsuit), but it’s still a good option for keeping your clothes looking their best.
6. Hanging toiletry bag
This toiletry bag will keep everything organized, while the hanger makes it easy to hook on a towel rack to easily find what you need from the clear pockets inside.
7. Compact travel blanket
Planes can be freezing, but most blankets are big and bulky. That’s why I love this compact travel blanket that can clip right onto your carry-on or backpack and not take up any precious packing space.
8. Laundry bag
I hate throwing worn clothes back in my suitcase with clean clothes, especially if they got wet or dirty. I keep them separated with this super compact laundry bag.
9. Heat-resistant styling tool cover
I always bring a flat iron on my trips since I’m not exactly blessed with good hair days. I’ve used this cover for years to protect counters and my own stuff when I need to put a hot styling tool in my bag before it’s completely cooled off.
10. TSA-approved travel bottles
When you’re only traveling with a carry-on, full-size toiletries aren’t going to fly (literally, they can’t get on the plane). Before I started using these, I was constantly buying those mini, over-priced travel toiletries. I never fully used any of those bottles, but there would never be enough left over to bring on the next trip. With refillable bottles, I just buy a full-size sunscreen (or lotion, or whatever you need) and add more for next time. Oh and these won’t leak!
11. Cleansing wipes
If you’ve ever taken a long flight, you know that need-to-shower-immediately feeling by the end of it. Since you can’t always hop in the shower as soon as you get to your destination, cleansing wipes can help hold you over until then.
12. Charging case
It can be pretty difficult to navigate a new city with a dead phone. I swear by charging cases since you don’t have to remember to charge them separately like a traditional portable power bank.
13. Universal power adapter
If you’re traveling abroad, you’re probably going to need a power adapter. Instead of buying one for the individual country, be prepared for any trips you plan in the future with this adapter that supports over 160 countries. This one also has four USB ports to charge your phone, camera and wireless headphones all at the same time.
14. Sleep mask
This soft sleep mask must if you want to get some sleep on your flight. I only started bringing a sleep mask on my flights about a year ago and I can’t believe I went so long without one.
15. Memory foam neck pillow
I’ve tested both memory foam and microbead pillows – memory foam pillows are the clear winner. This one snaps closed so you can clip it on your bag to carry easily.
